G.I. JOE INSIDE THE FILECARDS FEATURING ‘CRIMSON GUARD’
In this week’s G.I. Joe ‘Inside the Filecards‘, I’m Skipping around and going straight to the Crimson Guards. They are “Cobra Elite Troopers” with a PMS of “Undercover Espionage” and SMS of “Accounting”. Their filecard describes them as the “elite shock troopers” of the Cobra legions and later states that they are “too precious to be wasted on the conventional battlefield”. So basically their filecard contradicts itself. Shock troopers by definition are the “door kickers” and the first in a battle. They rely on violence of action to get the job done (think the US Marines). So in my honest opinion Siegies would not be the first into a battle but rather working undercover and not be on a battlefield (like their filecard states).
With that in mind I feel their uniform is not a combat uniform, but rather a dress uniform they don during ceremonies or when acting as bodyguards to Cobra Commander. Much like 1987 Gung Ho in his dress blues, the CG’s would not fight in a Siegie uniform either. So considering that one has to wonder why there would be a Python Patrol version of the Siegie’s in their dress uniforms? If the uniform is a dress one than what advantage would it be to “pythonize” it? Plus it loses the term “crimson” in the Crimson Guard name. As cool as the Python Patrol CG looks, it is rather impractical and pointless.
Siegies hold a degree in either accounting or law which would make them formidable opponents in a court room or working undercover in an accounting firm (maybe involved in money laundering?). I picture Siegie’s working in local government (maybe at the county level) as elected officials and their stoogies. They would slowly but surely gain much power in the political field and maybe later go to the state or even federal level. This would give Cobra immense power at the several levels of government.
